The Gift of the Magi by O. Henry
I like the Gift of the Magi because it tells how Della and Jim sacrificed their greatest treasures and bought each other Christmas presents. At the beginning of the story, it shows a picture of Della and Jim looking through a window at what they wanted most - a watch chain and some really fancy combs. The reason why they couldn't buy them for each other then was because they were too expensive. Their greatests treasures were Della's hair and Jim's pocket watch. So they sold those and bought each other the presents. You might think they would be sad, because they couldn't use the presents, but they very cheerful because they had sacrificed their greatest treasure for each other.
In a cheerful voice, Jim said: "Let us put these presents away and use them next Christmas."
